Timing IS everything, you know.
About the Blog and Its Author
Emily Stern has an undergraduate degree in Music and Communications from Emerson College and worked in print and broadcast media before becoming a New York City Teaching Fellow in 2000. After obtaining her Masters Degree in Elementary Education at City College and teaching Performing Arts and 6th Grade in a failing school in West Harlem, Emily took her daughter and returned to the town on Long Island in which she was raised.
Growing lonely for Manhattan, Emily has recently resurrected a project she began in the 1980's with her then-husband, photographer Edward Stern . . . a photographic record of the clocks of New York City. While the photographs in this blog were taken between the years 1987 and 1994, the captions and history are as up-to-date as possible, having been written expressively for this site.
